A little about me!

By day I am a Management Information Systems (MIS) project manager with a long history in stadium projects, computer systems and programming. But that was my formal education and job. Now I am working on larger projects for myself. This means, until I can monetize the projects, I am living on savings and funds from smaller side projects.
Growing up in Australia as the son of a defiantly independent man, my father instilled me with self reliance from a very early age. He insisted with a little time and effort, you could repair and maintain nearly anything yourself. I have fond memories of learning to work on cars, lawn mowers, cement mixers and more. Then he supervised me as I wired my first light switch. From there he taught me how to wire the entire house, all the while explaining why codes and regulations were in place, the consequences of certain conditions and how to improve and make the wiring safe. Then we tackled plumbing, .. then wall repair, .. doors, .., well I think you see where this is going. Eventually, there was barely any aspect of home repair that I had not tackled.

He also taught me the greatest lesson. Know your limitations. This lesson was vital. Some jobs are best left to others. Whether it be skill, cost, tools or expediency, it is sometimes better to have someone else perform a task for you. Having someone else perform a task for you is sometimes the best option.

So, over the years I have continued in his footsteps and increased my skill set. Moving to the US for my job, I lived in Kansas City, MO before making Aurora my home. Or, to be more specific, I have made Mission Viejo my home. I have lived in Mission Viejo since 2010, (apart from a year in the country on a hobby farm!) I love helping people and working with my hands. That is where Aussie Home Repair enters the picture. If I can help people with small home projects while keeping my mind and body active, I consider that a win-win scenario. Making a little spending cash on the side and keeping me away from my computer desk every once in a while, even better!
